Recap: ArborLinks Harvester Member-Guest
The Nebraska weather was hot, and so was the competition at the June 17 – 19 ArborLinks Harvester Member-Guest tournament.
Teams arrived Thursday mid-day for a practice round complete with shootout and were welcomed with an assortment of tee gifts: a headcover, flask, koozie, ball marker, leather pouch, and a dozen Titleist balls all with the Harvester logo, Maui Jim sunglasses, and a flask pre-filled with their favorite beverage.
Executive Chef Nick Stukenholtz and the ArborLinks culinary team impressed with a variety of Midwestern classics. Attendees enjoyed brisket grilled cheese and Nashville hot chicken Thursday for lunch and a barbecue buffet Thursday night featuring Piedmontese beef ribs, smoked game hen, a bone-in pork shoulder carving station, classic picnic siders like twice-baked potatoes and cornbread, and strawberry rhubarb crisp bars for a sweet finish.
The two-round (each an 18-hole Quota format) event kicked off Friday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., and festivities continued with a 16-hole Par 3 tournament in the afternoon.
Friday night brought the full Dormie Network experience to the plate with shrimp cocktail appetizers, smoke prime rib, pork shank Osso Bucco, and crispy duck paired with orange-rosemary Brussel sprouts and strawberry balsamic salad.
Evening activities included a friendly chipping competition and fireworks show. (Late-night partygoers even snagged Baileys milkshake!)
Saturday morning brought stiff competition. Between Round 2 in the morning and the Final Shootout in the afternoon, Chef and team hosted an outdoor grilled buffet of Korean barbecue steak sandwiches and crab salad at the clubhouse, and started prep for the on-course Shootout snack of grilled oysters and crispy pork belly with hot honey glaze.
In a nail-biting putt, member Shawn Wederquist and his guest Brad Dubisar snagged the overall win. Congrats to all the flight winners!
