Taste of Texas at the Round-Up Member-Guest

The network’s southern-most club held its second Member-Guest event this year on November 4 – 6.

Thirty teams were divided into five flights determined by combined team handicap index, with each flight named after a famous outlaw: Billy the Kid, Jesse James, Butch Cassidy, Wild Bill Hickok, and Buffalo Bill.

Round 1 was best ball, round 2 modified alternate shot, round 3 scramble, and round 4 shamble aggregate. The lowest cumulative net score within each flight was crowned Flight Winner and advanced to the pure alternate shot Championship Shootout.

Chef Josh and the culinary team impressed during the welcome party with a Briggs Ranch Texas BBQ dinner featuring brisket, ribs, and poblano macaroni and cheese, complemented with a Macallan 18 tasting.

Following the rounds on Friday, players were invited to a Par 3 Tournament with a twist: half the field played the front 9 and half the back 9, but all played the course backwards. Post-play, the highlight of the Texas Two-Step Dinner were massive Certified Piedmontese tomahawk steaks and whole smoked Grouper.

The birthplace of Dormie Network’s canned cocktail series, the bar (and the course) flowed with house specialties Transfusion and Ranch Water. Proving there’s never a dull moment at a Dormie Network event, members and guests enjoyed various evening activities including glow golf on the back veranda with a whiskey barrel and gong as targets, axe throwing, and cornhole.
