Straight from the Head Pro: What to Expect at a Member-Guest Event

by Zach Hamilton, Hidden Creek Head Golf Professional

Hidden Creek’s Spring Member-Guest was held June 2 – 4, 2022. Most players arrived on the morning of Thursday, June 2 and played a practice round that featured a combined team stableford format as well as an individual skins game. Following the practice round, players were treated to their first blowout culinary experience of the weekend, including prime rib and halibut carving stations as well as a fresh cannoli truck by the fire pit.

The official tournament began on Friday morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun for Match 1. The format was 30 teams split into five flights of six teams each determined by combined team handicap. Each team played five round-robin-style matches for points against the other teams within their flights. Lunch on Friday was served on the course as golfers played their 2nd and 3rd matches and included New England style lobster rolls, hot chicken wraps, pulled pork and Frito sandwiches, and smoked hot bacon-wrapped hot dogs.

After Round 3, the players retired to their houses to shower, change, and return for dinner and evening activities at the clubhouse. Dinner included a cacio e pepe parmesan wheel station and Calabrian chili pork chops. After dinner, players participated in a 9-hole putting course on the practice green and a glow ball closest to the pin contest on the 9th green hitting from the patio behind the clubhouse.

Macallan had representatives on property providing scotch tastings, as well as cigar rollers, and a presentation of Bentleys and Aston Martins with them for players to enjoy.

The final day of the event consisted of two more matches followed by lunch and the shootout. The shootout was comprised of seven teams: the five flight winning teams and two wild card teams which were the team with the most points overall that did not win their flight as well as the team with the most points on Saturday. The shootout took place on Holes 1, 8, and 9, with two teams being eliminated on each hole until a winning team and runner-up team were determined.

Tee gifts players received included: Frozen transfusion fairway wood covers, custom frozen transfusion t-shirts from Johnnie-O, lounge shorts from Johnnie-O, as well as Winston Collection duffel bags and dopp kits.

Flight Winner trophies were custom made pizza peels from Builds by Bailey and the overall champions also received Hidden Creek flags signed by the entire field presented in a shadow box.

Thank you to all who participated and we look forward to seeing you all back at Hidden Creek.
