Concierge Spotlight: Get to know Dormie Network’s Ben Manzenberger
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Ben: I’m from a small town in Indiana called Bedford. I was brought to golf by a simple love for sports and recreation. Golf is an intellectual sport that combine finesse and skill; that alone has brought me to love it. I have a Master's degree in sports management and have spent ample time studying the complexity of golf. I also love to fish, hike, and spend time outdoors. My primary hobbies are playing guitar and spending time with my fiancé, Kennedy. I love to read: Leo Tolstoy, Plato, and Jack London are some of my favorites.
What’s unique about Dormie Network and its approach to hospitality and service?
Ben: Dormie Network not only provides a combination of amazing golf courses but hospitality that is second to none. The caliber of service we provide does not mimic any other system; it’s on a level all its own. There is no better way to entertain clients or bring a group of friends together to relax and forget the outside world than at a Dormie Network club.
Which is your favorite Dormie Network course?
Ben: This is a hard one. I got my start in the industry at Victoria National, so I am partial to it; however, Ballyhack is my favorite course. It has a way of making you feel like you're in your own world. Between the undulation on the greens and the elevation changes from tee box to green, it’s truly an amazing course. Lester George didn't hold back.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Ben: My grandfather told me at a young age that the most important thing we can do as people is to never let our thoughts go undisciplined. If you allow that, everything crumbles. When your thoughts stray, you forget why you started, you forget where you’re going, and you instill doubt in yourself.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Ben: The moments when members are truly awed. Every time a member steps onsite, every time we plan a trip, every time they think of Dormie Network, I want them to think: Wow, that last trip was amazing! Seeing that come to fruition is both motivating and fulfilling.
