Briggs Ranch Head Golf Pro Mike Frost: Making Every Round Memorable
Mike Frost, Briggs Ranch Head Golf Professional
How Mike’s Leadership as Head Golf Pro Enhances the Dormie Network Experience at Briggs Ranch, All While Honoring the Game
Every golf club has a person who keeps the game running smoothly, the experience seamless, and the players at their best. That’s right, we’re talking about the head golf professional.
At Briggs Ranch Golf Club, that person is Mike Frost. He's the guy who makes sure every detail is dialed in. As Head Golf Professional, he’s not just running operations—he’s helping players sharpen their game, navigate the course, and get the most out of their trip to Dormie Network’s southernmost club in San Antonio, Texas.
Mike Frost was named the 2024 Western Chapter Golf Professional of the Year at the STPGA Chapter Awards, and for good reason. Let’s take a closer look at how his leadership, philosophy, and dedication to the game enhance the overall experience for members and their guests at Briggs Ranch.
Getting Into Golf: A Family Tradition
Mike Frost and his dad
Originally from Maryland, Mike has lived across the country—including New Hampshire, North Carolina, Florida, California, Washington, Michigan, and Texas. But no matter where he was, golf remained a constant—thanks to his father.
"My greatest accomplishment in golf has been to have a strong and close relationship with my dad. My dad got me into golf at a young age by taking me to his lessons when he was first learning to play," shares Mike Frost. "My dad had to travel a lot with his role in the company he worked for, and it was my chance to spend time with him.”
Mike’s dad began playing golf for business purposes and quickly developed a love for it. This passion for golf became a shared bond between Mike and his dad. Mike finds value in the traditions and standards upheld on the course and how those lessons extend into life. This aligns perfectly with Dormie Network’s model—where, yes, pure golf is a priority, but it’s also about how each round offers an opportunity to connect, foster relationships, and create meaningful experiences, just as Mike has done with his father."
Today, they continue to play together in the occasional Pro-Am and member-guest events. For Mike, this relationship with his dad eclipses any amateur and professional trophies or prize money he’s received in his 30 years of playing tournament golf.
Elected to PGA membership in 2017—the same year Dormie Network was founded—Mike’s journey to becoming the Head Golf Pro at Briggs Ranch was shaped by years of experience in various roles, including Senior PGA Professional at Austin Country Club, where he served on the Assistants Committee for 4 years. He was a Teaching Professional at Camp Creek and Sharks Tooth in Panama City, Florida, and was at Oak Hills in San Antonio from 2012-2015. A Titleist Staff member and FootJoy Advisory Staff member since 2019, he joined Briggs Ranch in 2021 and has played a pivotal role in enhancing the club’s golf experience.

Mike’s Role at Briggs
Whether he’s on the course in his aviators with a microphone in hand or updating event results in the clubhouse, Mike is always engaged in doing what he loves. As Head Golf Professional at Briggs Ranch, Mike brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for the game, contributing to the club’s reputation as a premier Texas destination within Dormie Network membership. Mike’s primary responsibility is to equip the golf department team with the knowledge, skills, tools, and motivation needed to provide an exceptional golf experience every day. By doing so, he ensures that the team can execute daily operations at the highest level while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement in all areas—course standards, the overall experience, and most importantly, fostering strong relationships with our members.
Though there are many responsibilities tied to the Head Golf Professional role, Mike believes this approach is key to the continued success and evolution of our operations at Briggs Ranch. His leadership and commitment to excellence ensure that each season brings a new opportunity to elevate the member experience.
As far as course playability, Briggs is known as the friendliest course in Dormie Network. "The course itself is a wonderful experience for golfers of all skill levels," says Mike Frost. "Higher handicaps appreciate the forgiving fairways and large green complexes while more skilled players relish the strategy of tee shot placement and approach strategy precision into the undulating green complexes."
“The best advice I can give to players before their first round at Briggs is work on your short game. The tough green complexes require a variety of shots around the green should you miss.”

Mike’s Philosophy as a Golf Professional
Mike's leadership style is centered around creating a team culture where each member is encouraged to contribute to a shared goal: continuous improvement and learning. This dedication to growth isn’t limited to Mike alone; it’s a core value that permeates the golf department and the entire Network. Mike believes that no success is possible without a strong, united team behind it, and he actively fosters this environment at Briggs Ranch.
His approach not only benefits the Briggs Ranch team but also directly enhances the overall Dormie Network experience for members and guests.
“The willingness to have ideas from all areas of the golf department has created some wonderful improvements and offerings to our events and member trips,” Mike shares. “Through open communication and the inclusion of diverse perspectives, the team constantly evaluates what’s working well and what could be improved. Enhancing the Dormie Network Experience
“Building strong, lasting relationships are essential to Dormie Network’s business model's long-term success,” shares Mike. “Building these relationships enhances our member and guest experience in various ways. Leading my team by example and showing the importance of these relationships, the team can take the lead and be comfortable building their own relationship with members and guests. This allows us to make our visitors feel like they receive a personal experience. When we get to know our members and guests, we can anticipate their needs and provide an experience above and beyond expectations. We call this anticipatory hospitality in our operation. This is a pillar to our success and something we strive for daily.”
For Dormie Network members, the result is clear: a personalized experience that not only exceeds expectations but evolves with each interaction. Whether through innovative programs, tailored events, or thoughtful improvements to every detail of their visit, members can feel the impact of Mike's philosophy in action. By promoting collaboration and openness within the team, Mike ensures that the experiences created for members are dynamic, engaging, and memorable.
“His integrity, knowledge, willingness to help others, and passion for the game of golf is second to none. He has elevated the golf department, merchandising, and team development to levels Briggs Ranch has never seen before. Mike’s relationship with members has always impressed me. Members gravitate towards him for a multitude of reasons. Michael can connect with every individual in a professional, courteous, and sincere way.”
