The 2021 Dormie Day of Giving series kicked off Monday, March 15 at Briggs Ranch in San Antonio.

In a well-paced four-player scramble golf tournament bolstered by mild Texas weather, 32 players competed for top prize while supporting the Dormie Network Foundation’s giving initiatives. The field was dominated by local guests eager to sample the experience at Dormie Network’s southern-most private golf club, including lunch on the veranda and koozie-branding at the turn.

A few local celebrities joined the festivities: a University of The Incarnate Word men’s golf team player joined each foursome and Dormie Network ambassador and former San Antonio Spurs player (and three-time NBA champion) Bruce Bowen acted as wildcard at Hole 8.

Prizes included four stay and play packages for the winning team, golf shop credit for the team placing second, and personalized instruction from Briggs Ranch PGA professionals for those who earned longest drive and closest-to-the-pin distinction.

There were additional prizes available for holes in one, including a Chevrolet Silverado at Hole 3 from Cavender Buick GMC North (and member Lee Cavender) and a Harley-Davidson at Hole 17 from Caliente Harley-Davidson (and member Fred Bosshardt). Though neither HIO prize was won, Fred nearly earned the truck donated by his fellow member with a shot just 6” shy of the pin.
