The LPGA Foundation announced today that Briggs Ranch Golf Club Dormie Network club, has partnered with LPGA*USGA Girls Golf and The First Tee of Greater San Antonio to host Girls Golf Play Day on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Dormie Network, a national network of private destination golf clubs, joined the LPGA family in June this year as an Official Marketing Partner with the goal of helping the LPGA in its efforts to grow the game. This is the second LPGA*USGA Girls Golf event the network is hosting this year.

The no-cost event offers instruction on the fundamentals of golf in a fun and safe environment with a focus on the 5 E’s of LPGA*USGA Girls Golf: Empower, Enrich, Engage, Exercise, and Energize. Open to girls aged 6 to 17 with an interest in golf, the event features activities such as putting games, driving range, chipping, creating a pumpkin station and a Birdie Ball shark.

“This partnership with Dormie Network could not have arrived at a better time – we are on the verge of a fruitful growth of the program throughout the city,” said Patrick Kisomanga, Site Director for LPGA*USGA Girls Golf of San Antonio. “Excitement is brewing, and we cannot wait to put on a great day for the girls at an exceptional facility like Briggs Ranch Golf Club.”

Through this event and others, LPGA*USGA Girls Golf of San Antonio has a goal of creating a safe space for young women to come together and encourage each other, not only in golf but in everyday activities. They are focused on messaging related to mentorship, peer-to-peer networking, creating lasting friendships, and teaching the girls that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.

“Getting women involved in golf is an industry priority, and that starts with introducing young girls to the game,” said Briggs Ranch General Manager Derrick Dixon. “Hosting the clinic at Briggs Ranch is an easy way for us to give back to the San Antonio community, while exposing even more players to the private club experience.”

Alumnae connections run deep at LPGA*USGA Girls Golf of San Antonio. Former members Grace Kerr and Isabela Santellan will be volunteering at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club event as station leaders. The First Tee of Greater San Antonio’s Site Coordinator Johany Rivera was also a member of LPGA*USGA Girls Golf for seven years and credits the program for bridging connections, providing networking opportunities, and creating a space where she could build lifelong friendships. She went on to play golf at St. Edwards University on a full-ride scholarship and currently serves as the graduate assistant coach at St. Mary’s University. Along with her coaching responsibilities, Rivera serves as Girls Golf Coordinator for The First Tee of Greater San Antonio, putting on all clinics and events.
