You’re Dormie with These Easy Treats

Impress your Valentine with these easy treats from the Network’s team of executive pastry chefs.

Sugar Cookies with Glass Center

  • Jolly Ranchers hard candies (approx. 20)

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

Crush the Jolly Ranchers in a zip lock bag and put aside.

Cream together the butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until combined. Add flour and salt.

Chill the dough for an hour.

Roll out the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness and cut using heart shape cutter. Use smaller heart shape cutter to cut out the center and put the Jolly Ranchers in the center. Bake at 350 for 12 – 14 minutes.

Just-Like-The-Pros Chocolate Covered Strawberries

  • 1 pound strawberries (about 20)

  • 8 ounces of chocolate

  • 2 tsp butter

Wash the strawberries, dry, and let them rest in the fridge for up to 20 minutes and on the counter for at least 40. Make sure they are completely dry and there’s no condensation (moisture can make the chocolate seize.)

Using a double boiler or two heatproof medium bowls, melt the chocolate over simmering water. Add the butter to help smooth out the chocolate.

Dip strawberries and let them cool.

This recipe is easily doubled or tripled, and you can decorate with contrasting chocolate, sprinkles, or flavor shooters (pictured are caramel and strawberry purée!).
