Corn may be the No. 1 crop in Nebraska, but you’ll be hard pressed to find many stalks driving through the expansive western side of the state, which consists of a seemingly endless sea of massive, rolling sand hills topped by prairie grass. In addition to cows and windmills, golfers behind the wheel will see a vast expanse of bunkers that aren’t really bunkers — giant sandy blowouts that appear to be begging to be a focal point of a great golf hole.

It’s here, just over 20 miles from the North Platte airport and a world removed, that the Dormie Network and architect David McLay Kidd are indeed incorporating sandy blowouts in the great golf holes being built at one of the game’s most eagerly anticipated new courses: GrayBull.
