Drill: Two Tees to Help You Make More Putts - Practice like Tiger with this drill
Remember Tiger Woods at the Presidents Cup back in December? If you watched him practice on the putting green, you probably noticed he was using two tees outside the toe and heel of the putter. He was rolling putts from five feet away practicing putter face manipulation. From this distance, the PGA TOUR golfer makes only 75% of putts; what about you?
Try this drill to improve your putting game.
Step 1: Find a spot on the putting green that has a straight and flat putt.
Step 2: Place your putter down and place a tee just outside the heel of the putter and one just outside the toe.
Step 3: Place the ball in the middle of the tees and make your normal stroke. If you hit either of the tees, look at which one you hit and adjust your stroke accordingly. Really focus on keeping that face stable.
Step 4: Take 10 putts and see how many you make. If you make seven or more, take the tees away and see if your aim has improved without them. If you do not make seven, repeat until you succeed.
The goal is to keep your face square and stable at impact.
Challenge: Try this drill with both right-to-left and left-to-right putts, which incorporates face manipulation as well as having the proper speed.
