Journeyman tour pro celebrates earning PGA Tour card at the perfect journeyman restaurant
Scott Gutschewski, 44, last played on the PGA Tour for a full season in 2011. In the decade since, he's appeared in just two PGA Tour events, spending the bulk of his time grinding away on the Korn Ferry Tour, where he failed to earn his tour card back. A number of injuries certainly hampered his chances, in addition to middling play.
At some point, Gutschewski had to have had the same thoughts every struggling journeyman golfer has - is it time to give up? Go fold shirts in a pro shop, try a desk job, quit the game entirely. Fortunately, Gutschewski did none of those things, opting to keep the faith.
His patience, and persistence, were rewarded on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio, where Gutschewski tied for 18th in the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship thanks to a Sunday 67 on the Scarlet Course at Ohio State University. The top-20 finish was good enough for Gutschewski to earn a PGA Tour card, which made the father of four very emotional, understandably:
Speechless, in the best of ways. ❤️

Naturally, a celebration was in order. Back to the PGA Tour for the first time in 10 years! Steak dinner? Champagne? Seafood tower? OK, no seafood tower. Probably not the move in Ohio.
Try none of the above. Gutschewski, a journeyman through and through, went to the perfectly journeyman establishment to cap off the huge day. He went to Denny's:
It ain’t Applebee’s, but still pretty fancy… pic.twitter.com/CINexRAtEL

Oh, hell yes. Breakfast for dinner? Sign us up. You can literally never go wrong with a Grand Slam, no matter the time of day. Tip of the cap, Scott.
P.S. — Are we sure Scott isn't just Hank from "Breaking Bad"? I've personally never seen them in the same room, so it's tough to confirm.
