Embark on an Adventure with This Trip Add-On
A highlight of ArborLinks' dedication to sustainability and nature preservation is the Conservation Trail, meandering over the natural lay of the land, constructed with a material that uses native soil mixed with a small portion of concrete and water, which is rolled smooth. It makes the trail broadly accessible, while its natural color blends nicely with the surroundings.
From ArborLinks the trail drifts into a valley housing beavers and through the apple orchard planted 40 years ago, a fence nearby to keep deer away from the fruit. A slight corner and visitors are treated to a clonal walnut grove and a wooden foot bridge. Arboreal displays then take a turn for the educational, with demonstrations on alley cropping, agroforestry, and other conservation research.
Arbor Day Farm, a 260-acre recreational space that includes Lied Lodge, awaits on the other side of the path alongside a hazelnut orchard. The Farm offers indirect amenities for Dormie Network members to enjoy after a round of golf, such as wine tastings and shopping at the Apple House Market, a lesson in local history at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, and a one-of-a-kind experience up in the trees at Treetop Village.
“We’re happy entertain ArborLinks guests at the farm,” says Brandon Schuster, Vice President of Arbor Day Farm. “The trail connects our two world-class properties in a natural way, enhancing the experience of those who stay at either location.”
The Impact of Arbor Day Farm's Mission
J.D. Brake, ArborLinks General Manager, speaks highly of the trail, stating, "We feel it’s important for members and guests to see and understand the type of habitat that exists outside the golf course and that it is just as important as what’s inside the golf course.” This sentiment perfectly captures the essence of the ArborLinks experience—a seamless blend of nature and golf that enriches your time spent at the club.
Embracing the mission of Arbor Day Farm—an organization dedicated to inspiring people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees—resonates deeply within ArborLinks' ethos. The Conservation Trail not only provides a serene landscape for post-match relaxation, but it also serves as a living testament to the positive impact of nature conservation and preservation of the local habitat including the South Table Creek, mirroring the values of Arbor Day Farm.
